  3. I realized why I’m not doing my 30-day challenge religiously. It’s because the one I got was not really appealing to me and I can’t find the perfect 30-day challenge to use… and then I saw Ate Barbs’ uber entertaining Tagalog blog and even Jess is now using the same list as her. So here’s my second take at a new 30-day blog challenge.

Introduce yourself, recent picture, 15 interesting facts

Hi, I’m Cai! Short for Angelica, but people would always ask how I got Cai from Angelica – jumble the last 3 letters and that’s what you get. I’ve been using that nickname since the 4th grade. A classmate helped me coin that nickname and after a couple of years a lot of Cais and Kais are roaming around the planet.

I’m the youngest of 3 kids, I have 2 older brothers whom I have a love-hate relationship with. I love my mom so much that I even work with her. My dad had been my constant supporter and driver when he was still alive. There’s not a day goes by that I do not miss him.

My current job is as Special Projects Officer with an international fashion brand with local presence. I do marketing and advertising tasks and for 4 months, I handled operations also. Prior to that I was Recruitment Officer for the same brand but I almost resigned because HR jobs are boring me. I was also a Marketing Services Officer in the country’s largest bookstore chain for 4 years. And according to my friend, I was an Account Executive in an advertising agency in my past life.

One of very few self portraits. I took this during an event held in our Rockwell shop. I was loving the lighting inside the store plus my barely there make-up c/o MAC.

On to the 15 interesting facts about myself. I will be reusing some of the ones I have posted before and adding some not-so-known facts about myself.

    1. In my previous 30-day post, I mentioned that I probably have the Holiest name ever: Maria Angelica Grace, but my name was supposed to be Arianne Giselle which I think would probably suit my personality better.

    2. I have been a dancer for 18 years but I picked studies over dancing. At that point I realized that I tend to choose practicality over passion.

    3. People say that I can pass as (insert characteristic here) even if I’m not that. Back in college, people thought that I am a member of the pep squad. After college someone asked if I was a Literature Major.

    4. I thrive on being busy. It may have been an acquired trait from my mom who is such a workaholic or because of the fact that my first job forced me to have mega-multitasking abilities. I love it best when I’m up to the point of having a breakdown because I have so many things to do.

    5. The first thing that I learned how to cook (aside from instant noodles & fried egg) is beefsteak. I cannot remember who taught me but I enjoy cooking it. I also enjoy baking and dream of owning a KitchenAid.

    6. My favorite color came from a favorite outfit I had when i was a kid. It was from Esprit consisting of a matching pair of a purple t-shirt with a pocket on the left chest area with a white butterfly print and purple & white polkadot shorts.

    7. I am usually impatient; I get impatient when paying for stuff, during class, at work, in restaurants, when crossing streets. But then it is weird that sometimes I don’t get impatient at all.

    8. I own 2 Manila street map/book and 1 Cebu street map/book just because I love reading maps.

    9. Whenever I clean my room/workstation/computer files, that means I’m upset or irritated.

    10. I was able to overcome my fear of heights by riding cable cars, going on high buildings, taking scary rides. Now my fear is on open bodies of water.

    11. Whenever I visit a new place, I make it a point to taste local dishes or the current food fad and eat at McDonalds.

    12. In connection with #11, I have a goal. It is to be able to eat chicken nuggets and fries in different McDonalds all over the world.

    13. My favorite karaoke songs are by Madonna circa 1980s.

    14. I am most likely the only reader who keeps books in boxes (in order of importance to me) instead of bookshelves.

    15. I want to be able to drive (I got my license already) but I can’t park a car to save my life and I seriously will run over pedestrians who are J-walking.

  4. Day 1 clue was released 9am BST

Day 2 clue was released 10am BST

Day 3 is today! Clue will hopefully be released 11am BST… that’s like 35 minutes from now!

  9. This week made me miss a lot of firsts that I had so far. My first job, first international publisher, first promotion and my first book launch (which I honestly cannot remember).

I guess I can say that I am one of the few National Book Store Marketing Services Officer for Books who was able to withstand the pressure, stress and craziness of the position. For a fresh grad, I knew I handled the job well and I truly loved that job (even if I deny it at times) . I saw a lot of my favorite people in the book industry especially, Sir Rino of Random House, who was the first local representative of an international publishing house that I’ve met. I met him when I was about a week into the job, I was asked to create a raffle promotion for Time Out (travel guides). It was crazy but I enjoyed it.

Last Wednesday, I attended the book launch of Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto. I read about her in Chuvaness and I instantly knew that I’ll enjoy the book so I asked Sir Rino for a complimentary copy (some things never change :p ) and had it signed.

    A very happy Samantha Sotto

Today, I dropped by Quad Alpha to get my book and say hi to everyone. I stayed there for about 2 and a half hours just catching up with everyone, looking for my old trash can and other crazy stuff. It was also SUPER nice to finally meet James (formerly of Powerbooks) who is now handling books! We’ve been emailing, texting and talking with each other for 4 years and was never able meet face to face.

The surprise of the day was actually the comfort room. I’ve seen the NBS comfort room in a lot of different phases and now it looks amazing! Best improved!

Here are more pics of my NBS filled week. I miss everyone from the people from marketing, books, supplies and even our security guards!
